Sea Life
It’s in the sea. There’s a fishy, there’s a fishy, there’s a fishy, there’s a fishy – 4 fishies. There’s a whale, a shark and a starfish.

Whales and whirlpools
January 11, 2013
D: Look, the water‘s going out of the basin like a swirl pool! …What’s a swirl pool?
Me: A WHIRL pool is when the water goes round and round and down – just like that.
D: Oh – I thought it was when a boat has water under it that goes round and SUCKS it down!
Me: Well yes – whirlpools can be in the sea too, but not very often and hardly ever with boats right on top.
D: If there WAS a boat on top, it would get sucked under and a big whale would come along and eat it. That would be scary wouldn’t it?
Me: I guess so, but I don’t think that happens very often at all.
Water world
January 9, 2013
D: I feel sick because I drank too much in the swimming pool. I don’t like one thing about swimming now, when I think about the water.
Me: You’re not meant to drink the swimming pool, you’re meant to keep your mouth shut when you’re under the water!
D: I did!
Me: So how did you drink the water if you had your mouth shut – did you take a straw in?
D: No… That would be silly!
Me: Perhaps you should have a snorkel next time?
D: Yes – that’s it! That’s a GREAT idea!
Me: Well… Snorkels and masks are for learning to dive, and you can’t learn to dive until you can swim a few lengths of the pool, first.
D: But diving‘s not allowed in the swimming pool.
Me: Diving INTO the water’s not allowed, but I’m talking about diving UNDER the water – sub aqua diving. I used to do that – it was great! There’s a whole different world under the sea – like in Finding Nemo, with all kinds of fishes swimming past.
D: Did you want to see a shark?
Me: Only if it was quite far away.
D: I bet you didn’t want to see a HUMPBACK WHALE? They’re the biggest creature in this world!
Me: Only if they were quite far away too.
D: Are they bigger than the sea?
Me: No – otherwise how would they fit IN the sea?!
D: Oh yes.
