GIRAFFE USES COLOUR TO STAND OUT
Boy: It’s a giraffe with a really colourful pattern on its neck.

Arty Animals – by Dylan
D: This is the one I did today – arty animals. You can do it different colours if you like, and you have to draw everything you can remember doing at Art Club. And I can remember the giraffe, the zebra, the chameleon and the peacock and the fish and the puppy.
Me: A puppy?
D: Yes. If we wanted, we could draw an animal that we haven’t done before too. And I drawed a puppy.
Giraffe
D: It’s a giraffe.
Me: It’s very colourful.
D: Yes. But looking at it it’s really good. That bit’s really colourful. That one’s like blood going into your body and going in to the yellow dots. That one there’s very spotty. That bit there’s all joined up together.
A lift-the-flap picture – Jan 2013
D: Look – it’s you under the flap, mummy! I didn’t have time to put your hair on though.
Me: That’s lovely. The pattern on the paper looks like giraffe fur.
D: It is – I didn’t know we weren’t supposed to use the giraffe paper, but Mrs V said it was all right.
