17th Feb 2014: Tonight’s football and music score
The inaugural meeting of our exclusive Football + Music Club resulted in a score of Dylan 8, Becky 6. (With just a little bit trickery going on!)

On his cello, Dylan practiced Auntie Daisy Goes Crazy whilst I identified Eat Apples Daily, Grow Big Ears – on the guitar.

This is Day 17 of a 30 Day Post-a-Healthy-Picture challenge

The best team in the world
May 8, 2013

bestteamSon: Barcelona are the best football team in the world! Mikayla showed me lots of videos and in one, they got 27 scores and the other team got zero!

Mum: Why are Barcelona so good then?

Son: They do LOTS more practice and training and spend more time on their club – that’s what Mikayla said.
You want to see the statue?

Mum: Go on then.

Son: [Strikes a pose] ‘Huh!’ That’s someone doing a header with the ball in Barcelona!

Pledging allegiance

pledgingallD: Which country do I support at football?

Me: Err – our country? England?

D: No, I mean, like Manchester, or something? Jamie supports Chelsea.

Me: Ah, you mean which football team. Well, there isn’t really one that you support.

D: Maybe… Manchester?

Me: Manchester United? Your Grandad Bob used to support them – I suppose it’s as good a team as any to support.

D: Yes – I’ll support Manchester United then.

Inflatable football
February 24, 2013

inflatablefootballMe: What did you do at Sports Camp today?

D: Dodgeball, and inflatable football – do you know what inflatable football is?

Me: Is it where you play with an inflatable football?

D: Yes, well, you know the big football pitch that I told you about before?

Me: The one outside?

D: Yes – we played on that and I got gold for my team! I was the only one in our team to get a goal – and so I got 159 points!

Me: Well done! That’s a lot of points for a goal – it MUST have been special.

D: Yes, I was the ONLY one, so it was – how many points did I say?

Slippery goals
February 23, 2013

slipperygoalsD: You can wear slippers to Vikki’s in half term – you really CAN, because I saw some of the other children wearing slippers. But… I’d better wear my trainers because I’m going to Sports Camp and if I put my slippers on to go to Sports Camp I’d kick the ball and it would hurt my feet. Or I’d kick the ball and my slipper would just fly off.

Me: Yes, playing football in your slippers wouldn’t work very well would it?

D: No.

Fantasy football

Fantastic footballer – Jan 2013

D: We had to draw a picture of something we’re fantastic at.
I drawed that I’m fantastic at playing football. That’s me, with the ball in purple.
That’s the goal [in light blue, on the right], and I’m kicking the ball into the goal!
They’re all people who are trying to get the ball so they can get a goal, but they can’t!

Clever football strategies
July 29, 2012

D: I’m playing football with my two invisible friends – they’re taking in in turns to be goalie. Kick – kick – score!
Me: Is it quite easy to score goals against your invisible friends?
D: Yes, because you know my invisible friends? They’re not real – they’re imaginary. Do you know anything that’s real that’s invisible?
Me: Magic?
D: No, you can see magic powers… I know – wind, because you can’t see it but you can feel it.
