That’s you and me, on the sofa, with the mat thing and the cushions [right] and that’s the telly with Scooby Doo and his friend in it [left].

Describing words

describingwordsD: Mum, do you like rats?

Me: Well they’re not my FAVOURITE animal, but they’re OK.

D: Do you like cats or do you like dogs?

Me: I like both, but I probably prefer dogs because they can understand us more.

D: I prefer cats. What do cats do when we tell them something?

Me: Generally ignore it. Unless it’s about food.

D: Oh – yes, if it’s food they come RUNNING in…. Well, John has a rat and it BIT his finger!

Me: Ah – rats are not so nice when they bite.

D: That’s what I thought. And I’ve got a cough that’s as nasty as rats that bite!

Falling out

Me: Can you do the window back up please – it’s cold! Why have you rolled it down?

D: I was bored of sitting here. I wanted to put my head out of the window and stick my tongue out like Scooby Doo does.

Me: I’d rather you didn’t – you might fall out.

Dog talk
November 19, 2012

D: There was something really funny that I saw in an advert. There was this trick – it was number 21. It was something that you put on the floor and then a mummy came along and saw it and told the dog off because it was a pretend poo! How funny is that? Because the dog didn’t know what she said and he just looked at her like, “Huh?’!

The bones of it
August 31, 2012

D: Why isn’t Aidan coming to play at Daniel’s house?

Me: Because Aidan and his mum and dad get tired and go to bed very early at the moment.

D: Why do they get tired?

Me: Because Aidan’s new little sister isn’t sleeping very well at night.

D: Why isn’t she sleeping very well?

Me: I don’t know – it might be something to do with her coming out of her mummy’s tummy too early. Maybe her body wasn’t quite ready to come out and is trying to get used to being outside of her mummy’s tummy. She might be doing a lot of growing at the moment.

D: Has she got a skeleton?

Me: Yes.

D: Do you know – dogs have skeletons too… but they’re DOG shaped?!
