25th Jan 2014: Something to swap?
We managed to get out on our bikes again today, before the storm came. I didn’t think to bring any treasure to exchange in any geocaches – we were going to have to leave a plaster (unused!), until we bumped into Brian who gave us a slightly more useful bunch of natural twine! Dylan gained a mini photo frame (we were trying to work out if the picture was of a ‘real person’ or just a placeholder). Must keep some small swapsies by the bikes…

Day 11: Treasure Hunting on Two Wheels

11th Jan 2014: Treasure Hunting on Two Wheels
This afternoon we went Geocaching and found some awesome treasure. For the first time, we BOTH took our un-stabilised bikes out together and Dylan was even able to push start himself a few times!

signallingpresBoy: Because you’ve not rided a bike for ages, I’ll lead. Put your feet on the pedals, like this. Then push down one pedal and you can start moving. If you feel like you’re out of control or going too fast you press your brakes like this. If there’s a person or a car coming you have to ding your bell so they know that you’re there [dings his bell].

Mum: I haven’t got a dinger.

Boy: OK, you’ll have to clap or whistle then. When someone’s coming, or a car, I’ll ding and you clap or whistle. Actually, don’t clap – you’ll just fall off. Can you whistle?

Mum: Not when I’m laughing!
